Citizenship by Investment

Eligibility

The programme is available to the investor, the investor’s spouse, unmarried dependant children under 29, and dependant parents or grandparents over 55.

Requirements

Option 1

  • Show you have lived in Malta for 12 months.
  • Contribute €750,000 to the government.
  • Buy a property worth at least €700,000 or rent one for a minimum annual fee of €16,000.

Option 2

  • Show you have resided in Malta for 36 months.
  • Contribute €600,000 to the government.

Additionally

  • Due diligence fees of €15,000 for you, and €10,000 each for your spouse or dependents.
  • Own or lease the property for at least five years.
  • Contribute via an exceptional direct investment in Malta.
  • Donate at least €10,000 to an approved NGO.

Procedure

Month 1

Our legal team handles all required forms and liaises with key agencies.

Months 2–3

A dedicated Relationship Manager helps with your residency application and health insurance. You’ll also need to lease or purchase a property to establish your ties to Malta.

Months 4–5

Visit our Malta office for application completion. Necessary appointments, including those with a local notary and doctor, will be arranged by your Relationship Manager.

Months 10–12

Upon gaining Approval in Principle, you’ll settle any outstanding contributions and fulfil remaining commitments like property and charity donations.

Months 16–18

You’ll be invited to take the Oath of Allegiance and subsequently apply for your Maltese passport.

Residency by Investment

Eligibility

The programme is available to the investor, the investor’s spouse or partner, dependant children over 18, or under 18 and who live in the family home, and dependant parents or grandparents.

Requirements

Option 1

  • Contribute €68,000 to the government.
  • Purchase property worth at least €300,000 in Southern Malta or Gozo, or €350,000 elsewhere in the country.

Option 2

  • Contribute €98,000 to the government.
  • Lease a residential property with an annual rent of at least €10,000 in Southern Malta and Gozo, or €12,000 in other regions.

Additionally

  • Prove you have €500,000 in capital assets, with €150,000 in liquid assets.
  • Property must be retained for a minimum of five years.
  • Make a €2,000 donation to a registered Maltese NGO.
  • All dependants over 18 require an affidavit
    of support.
  • €7,500 administration fee per dependent.

Procedure

Month 1

Our team will handle all forms. You make an initial €10,000 contribution.

Month 2

Your application is thoroughly reviewed for compliance before submission. Residency Malta Agency performs its own checks, but we liaise closely to ensure efficient processing.

Months 4–5

After a successful review, you’ll get an Approval in Principle Letter, permitting the second contribution of €30,000.

Months 6–8

Provide evidence of property ownership or lease, make a €2,000 charitable donation, and submit your health insurance details. After meeting these criteria, make the final contribution to receive your residency cards.
